Digital content, interactive teaching and artificial intelligence bring schools new possibilities, but they also raise questions about safety, methodology and everyday use. These were the very issues at the centre of a working meeting with the leadership of the Ust-Chornianska settlement territorial hromada, held on 15 September 2026.
Representatives of the non-governmental organisation Mayors of Slovakia and of the local government discussed possible cooperation in modernising the teaching process. Particular attention went to tools that can help with preparing teaching materials, interactive work with pupils and developing digital skills.
Technology should have an educational purpose
An important point of the discussion was the responsible introduction of innovations. The deciding criterion should not be novelty itself but its benefit for learning, the readiness of the teaching staff and adequate data protection. At the same time, artificial intelligence can be a support for the teacher, not a substitute for their professional judgement.
The next phase could involve an expert assessment of a pilot activity at a selected school. This would make it possible to gather the experience of teachers and pupils continuously and to make decisions on the basis of real results. The talks thus opened the way for continued Slovak–Ukrainian cooperation without premature commitments to any specific deployment.
