How we handle your data when you write to us or browse the site, and what rights you have.

Who processes your data
The controller is Mayors of Slovakia, a civic association, company ID (IČO) 57167575, registered office Karadžičova 7610/16, 821 08 Bratislava–Staré Mesto, registered with the District Office Bratislava under number VVS/1-900/90-72797.

When you write to us
If you write to us by e-mail or through the contact form, we process your name, e-mail address, the text of your message and anything you add voluntarily — your organisation, phone number or subject.
We use this data only to reply to you and to continue the conversation. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where it concerns steps taken at your request before entering into a contract, and otherwise our legitimate interest in answering the questions you send us (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR).
The form does not store your message on this website: our hosting provider's server sends it straight to our mailbox as an e-mail.
We keep messages for as long as needed to deal with them and to continue the conversation, and no longer than 2 years after the last contact, unless we need them longer to perform a contract or meet a legal obligation.
When you browse the site
On every visit, the hosting provider may automatically record technical data — your IP address, the time, the page requested and the browser type. It is used to keep the site running and to protect it from attacks (legitimate interest, Article 6(1)(f) GDPR) and is kept only briefly.
Fonts and all other files of the site are loaded from our own server. The one exception is the map on the Contact page; otherwise, without your consent, the site contacts no third-party services.
The Contact page shows a map from Google Maps, provided by Google Ireland Limited, so you can easily see where we are. It loads as soon as the page opens; Google then receives your IP address and browser details and may set its own cookies. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in showing visitors where to find us (Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). If you do not want Google to receive this data, do not open the Contact page — our e-mail and address are also in the footer of every page. How Google handles the data is described in its privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
If you consent, we measure visits with Google Analytics 4, provided by Google Ireland Limited. We learn which pages are read, where visitors come from and which devices they use — without names or e-mail addresses. The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and § 109(8) of Slovak Act No. 452/2021 Coll. on Electronic Communications). Google may also process the data in the USA; Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which is covered by an adequacy decision of the European Commission. We keep data in Google Analytics for 14 months. Google Analytics 4 does not store IP addresses: for visitors in the EU it uses them only to derive an approximate location (country, city) and then discards them. Advertising features and Google signals are switched off.
Cookies and similar technologies
Cookies and similar technologies (such as localStorage) are small records a website keeps in your browser. Necessary ones are required for the site to work, and under § 109(8) of Act No. 452/2021 Coll. they need no consent. All others run only with your consent, which you can change or withdraw at any time.
We remember your choice for 12 months and then ask again. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing before the withdrawal.

Who we share data with
- e-mail and web hosting providers, who process it on our behalf as processors;
- Google, for measuring visits, if you have consented;
- Google, when the Contact page shows its map;
- public authorities, where the law requires it.
We do not sell data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
Your rights
You have the right to access your data, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict its processing, to data portability, and to object to processing based on legitimate interest. You can withdraw consent at any time. Just write to info@mayorsofslovakia.com; we will reply within one month at the latest.
If you believe we handle your data unlawfully, you can lodge a complaint with the Office for Personal Data Protection of the Slovak Republic, Hraničná 12, 820 07 Bratislava 27, www.dataprotection.gov.sk.
Changes
We may update this policy, for example when we add a new tool to the site. The current version is always on this page.
