Vinnytsia: Slovak–Ukrainian talks on digital education and joint projects

The modernisation of schools, support for teachers and the preparation of pilot projects were at the centre of working meetings between Slovak and Ukrainian partners in Vinnytsia.

Schools need technology that makes sense in teaching and that teachers can use over the long term. It was this practical perspective that ran through the talks in Vinnytsia on 28 April 2026. At both city and regional level, representatives of local government, educational institutions and expert partners met to assess the possibilities for Slovak–Ukrainian cooperation.

One of the topics was the presentation of the educational concept “Pre školu” (“For School”), which combines digital content, interactive tools and technological support. The discussions turned to the possible use of artificial intelligence in teaching, hybrid learning, the modernisation of school equipment and professional support for teachers.

Tested in schools first, then used more widely

The partners discussed preparing pilot activities in which new solutions would be assessed directly in the school environment. What matters here is not only the technical equipment but also the methodology, teacher training, servicing and an evaluation of the benefit for pupils. The results of the pilot could then serve as a basis for further decisions and for talks with potential supporters.

Separate attention was given to international grants, joint project plans and memoranda being prepared between municipalities. The non-governmental organisation Mayors of Slovakia took part in these talks as a partner connecting the parties involved. The participants agreed to continue coordinating and refining the conditions of possible pilot projects; their implementation remains a matter for further preparation.
